Data the App Accesses
HOVR accesses the following device features only to provide its core camera and recording functionality:
- Camera: Used to show a live preview and capture photos or videos.
- Microphone: Used only when recording videos with audio.
- Display over other apps / overlay permission: Used to show the floating camera window above other apps when the user enables floating mode.
- Notifications: Used to show foreground recording status and provide a Stop action while recording.
- Local device storage / media storage: Used to save captured photos and videos on the user's device.
How Data Is Used
HOVR uses camera, microphone, overlay, notification, and storage access only for app functionality selected by the user, including:
- Taking photos.
- Recording videos.
- Showing a movable floating camera overlay.
- Displaying recording status through Android foreground service notifications.
- Saving captured media to the device.
- Letting users view or manage captured media through the app and Android media/gallery flows.
Local Storage
Captured photos and videos are stored locally on the user's device through Android media storage. In the current app build:
- Photos are saved locally under Pictures/HOVR.
- Videos are saved locally under Movies/HOVR.
HOVR does not upload captured photos or videos to a server. HOVR does not provide cloud backup or cloud sync. Users control any sharing of captured media through Android sharing, gallery, or file-management features.
Data Collection and Sharing
In the current app build, HOVR does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data with the developer's servers or third-party services.
HOVR does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking SDKs in the current app build.
If future versions add cloud sync, analytics, advertising, accounts, crash reporting, or other third-party services, this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data safety form must be updated before release.
Permissions
HOVR requests permissions only when needed for core app functionality:
- Camera permission is required for photo and video capture.
- Microphone permission is required for video recording with audio.
- Overlay permission is required for floating camera mode.
- Notification permission may be required to show recording notifications on supported Android versions.
- Storage/media access is used to save and display captured photos and videos on the device.
Users can manage app permissions at any time in Android system settings. Some features may not work if required permissions are denied.
Data Retention and Deletion
Captured photos and videos remain on the user's device until the user deletes them. HOVR does not maintain a separate server-side copy of captured media in the current app build. Users can delete captured media through HOVR, Android gallery/media apps, or their device file manager, depending on device and Android version.
Security
HOVR relies on Android platform security, scoped media storage, runtime permissions, and foreground service notifications to protect user control and transparency. Users should only record where they have the legal right and consent to do so. HOVR is not intended for hidden, deceptive, or unlawful recording.
Children's Privacy
HOVR is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when legal, platform, or Google Play requirements change. Updates should be published on the app's active public Privacy Policy page and reflected in the Play Console Data safety form when applicable.
Summary
HOVR uses sensitive permissions such as camera, microphone, overlay, notifications, and local media storage to provide user-controlled photo and video capture. In the current app build, captured media stays on the user's device and is not uploaded to HOVR servers.
